“NBC Playground” Contest – Win a Development Deal

Seinfeld, Friends and The Office are just a few names that come to mind when you mention great shows on NBC. The network has been churning out hit TV sitcoms for over 25 years and is now turning to the creative contest community to help with its next big idea! Titled the “NBC Playground,” this competition is calling for ideas that will “WOW” the execs and give you the chance to have your great idea developed into a full fledged show!

To enter, create a 10-15 minute sample of your existing work. This will serve as a proof of concept and/or execution. You will then need to create a second video of yourself pitching your original sitcom idea. Stand out and be original because there is sure to be stiff competition. All submissions MUST be made through the contest page below and include the provided application form. From there, NBC will select 30 semifinalists to go through a screening and interview process. Once this is over, NBC will narrow the pool down the finalists who will receive funding to produce a 20 minute version of their sitcom.

(In order to participate as a Finalist, you must be a member in good standing of the Writers Guild of America (the “WGA”) or you must become a member in good standing to the extent required by the applicable provisions of the WGA Minimum Basic Agreement at your sole cost and expense).

An advisory board including such stars as Jason Bateman, Seth Meyers, Amy Pohler and Eva Longoria will be taking a look at the work. Two winners will be determined to move on and have his or her pitch idea developed into one or more episodes of a TV program intended for broadcast. Think you have what it takes? Head over to the contest page today!
