It’s often been regarded as the holy grail of video contests and with good reason…actually 1 million of them. However, for 2016 it’s the end of an era as Doritos announces its final “Crash the Super Bowl” video contest. What?! That’s right. After 10 years of generating some memorable big game spots, the brand is putting the tradition to rest. Don’t be too upset though, because there is still time to win that ultimate grand prize.
Create a clever 30 second spot featuring Doritos that you feel could air during the Big Game. Take a look at the past winners and see if you can crack the CTSB winner’s code. Historically, the videos featuring babies and animals have done pretty well. We also wouldn’t be surprised if Doritos picks a wild card this time around.
2015 Winner – “Middle Seat”
Doritos will select 47 finalists who will receive $2,000 for his or her entry (if this is any indication of how many entries they are expecting). From there, 3 finalists will be sent to San Francisco to watch the Super Bowl and see whose ad will air and win the $1,000,000. The 2 runner-ups will walk away with a check for $100,000 either way. Not a bad way to spend Super Bowl Sunday.
