  • Taj Mahal 2013: Ambi Pur Video Contest – $4,000
    by
    Posted June 17th, 2013 at 8:20 am

Ambi Pur has always strived to keep peoples homes and cars smelling clean and fresh. The company believes odors that linger in these places can adversely affect our mood and the mood of those we share our homes with. For 2013, they are launching a new video campaign concept revolving around couples whose relationships lose freshness after time as well. They believe “by eliminating odors and creating special moments in both the home and the car we can help refresh love.” Ambi Pur has teamed up with MOFILM’s 2013 Taj Mahal series in order to grab some great entries.

Create a film about the extreme lengths that people go to keep their relationships new and exciting. And then at the end of the film, introduce Ambi Pur as the easy and sensible solution to keeping it fresh. Your story can use either the car freshener or the home freshener (or both), but needs to feature the woman keeping it fresh for the house and the man keeping it fresh for the car. Additionally, the cast must be Indian for this contest due to the target audience. The brand also wants the tone to be witty and entertaining while not being overly emotional or slapstick funny.

The grand prize winner for this contest will receive $4,000 plus round trip travel for two people to Agra, India with 3 nights hotel accommodation. If you’re worried about runner up prizes, don’t be. 2nd place receives $2,000 and 3rd-5th place will each take home $1,000. Happy filming!

  • Taj Mahal 2013: Microsoft Video Contest – $4,000
    by
    Posted June 17th, 2013 at 12:00 am

Microsoft has dominated the market for over a decade with their productivity suite Office. Over the years, it has remained fundamentally the same…until now. Enter Microsoft 365. Although this product has been out for a while, it’s not on the top of everyone’s mind. Specifically mid-market businesses (100 or more employees and 50 or more PC users). Regardless, it has added key features that can be game changing. Now, they’re asking you to help them create an awareness.

Create a film that will speak to business owners and let them know of Office’s new features. The new system is built natively around the cloud and lets you store your files and access them from anywhere along with built in business class HD video conferencing. Plus the company is touting their product as now being a subscription service. You can subscribe monthly to the software to get all the great benefits for multiple computers instead of upgrading one by one.

These features let companies operate in a more collaborate setting. Show the viewer that teams and ideas can connect seamlessly while being able to stay mobile and access all of the tools online from any device. Build the idea that the modern office is flexible and no longer has limitations. Your film should not be instructional, but confident and smart in its approach. Use some emotion and even tasteful humor to create an inspirational tone.

This contest is a part of MOFILM’s Taj Mahal campaign so that means if you win, you are going to be spending 3 nights in Agra India with a sure shot at visiting the Taj Mahal. On top of that, you will be taking home a check for $4,000! Don’t forget that MOFILM now offers production grants for your projects. You definitely want to apply as it can only help your chances to create a killer film. Visit the contest site and read the creative brief to get started!

  • Discover Chapman Video Assignment – $7,500
    by
    Posted June 13th, 2013 at 12:00 am

The folks over at Poptent are known for teaming up with some amazing products and brands for their video assignments. This time, they have changed it up a bit and are partnering with  California college, Chapman University. The school’s origins can be traced back to 1861 making it one of California’s oldest, but most respected, private universities. The college is now in the process of overhauling their web presence in an effort to communicate the university’s message and create a whole new website, “Discover.Chapman.” This site will serve as a learning base for people unfamiliar with the university both academically and culturally. Since Chapman understands that video will be a critical part of this new user experience, they want you to help tell the story.

Create a 30 – 90 second video (60 ideal) that tells the university’s story through the lens of the Chapman community. You should build an emotional connection between the Chapman students and the viewers. The goal is to have prospective students walk away from the video feeling that the work being done at the university is important and relevant, therefore creating an environment they can imagine themselves being a part of. Also, make note that any stories representing faculty, staff or alumni MUST be factual.

The top 5 videos being chosen will not be disappointed! The 1st place video is going to take home a $7,500 award while 2nd and 3rd place will each take home $5,000. Even the 4th and 5th place videos will take home $3,000! That’s a pretty payout across the board and means the odds for this assignment are in your favor. Download the contest brief and get filming!

  • Sole Society Commercial Contest – $28,000
    by
    Posted June 12th, 2013 at 12:00 am

Launching in 2011, Sole Society has been a hot spot on the internet for women’s shoes, handbags and accessories. The company releases new products weekly along with exclusive fashion and style content. Last  year, they successfully got their brand into Nordstrom and are not stopping there. After teaming up with Tongal, the company is now looking for a slick video they can promote on TV.

Your video should speak to the modern woman who loves fashion and style, but is not looking to pay a fortune. To keep in line with the brand, the 30 second spot should feel polished and high quality. The viewer should walk away feeling like Sole Society is a high fashion brand while still being affordable. Keep in mind they are looking to differentiate the brand from discount fashion retailers such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls or DSW. They are not about slashing prices. So finding a way to create a cool lifestyle commercial is going to give you the greatest success. Check out the videos below for tonal reference.

    DIOR

    MADEWELL

    LEVIS

There are 3 phases and essentially 3 ways to win this contest. First submit an idea to Tongal. In 140 characters or less, create a written concept that will inspire a video creator. Four idea winners will receive a $250 check plus a $250 gift card for Sole Society. If your idea is used to generate a winning video, you will also receive 5% of that winning video’s cash prize.

The second method for participation is the pitch phase. Create a 500 character or less pitch plus storyboards and/or a pitch video showing how you would produce a 30 second spot based one of the 4 winning ideas. Think details. Click HERE for a sample of an effective pitch. You will even need to include head shots for your casting selections. Two winners from this phase will win $3,000 and move directly into phase 3.

The final phase for this contest is the actual production. The winners from phase 2 will create a Sole Society commercial based on their pitch and have a chance to win a $25,000 grand prize. The runner-up will receive a still healthy $12,000. But wait, there’s still a chance jump aboard at this point! A 3rd place prize of $6,000 is also being offered and that means there’s one more spot available. The “wildcard.” You can create a Sole Society commercial out of the blue based on your own idea. You don’t need to enter any of the other phases and you could still win the $25,000 grand prize.

Head over to Tongal’s contest page to get started and submit your idea today!

  • Drumstick “Lil Drums” Video Assignment – $7,500
    by
    Posted June 7th, 2013 at 6:15 am

Drumsticks have got to be one of my favorite ice cream treats ever…besides Strawberry Shortcakes of course. While I hadn’t personally heard of Lil’ Drums, it makes sense for the brand to have a snack size option of their deliciousness since the trend in this country is towards healthier snacking and portion control. Its aim is to be a universal snack for everyone in the family and needs your video marketing skills to get the word out!

Of course Drumsticks themselves are known everywhere, but Lil’ Drums have little-to-no brand awareness. Create a video that targets men and women between the ages of 25-44 and lets them know that Lil’ Drums are the perfect snack for them. Of course they are still an indulgent treat, but with less calories and the same amazing flavors as their big brother, they should always be an option in the fridge. The tone of your video should be funny, mischievous and witty while staying away from snarky and judgmental. Obviously you need to feature the product, however, it doesn’t necessarily need to be consumed.

Lil’ Drums will be selecting at least one video to purchase for $7,500. But that’s not all. Poptent will also be paying out five Editors’ Choice awards totaling $1,500. Sounds good to us!
