When last year’s “Crash The Super Bowl” was announced, it made one big change…it went global. This time around, the contest is expanding even further and going UNIVERSAL! What does this mean exactly? In addition to the guaranteed million dollar prize along with having your commercial aired live during the big game, you ALSO land a job with Universal Pictures as a creative consultant. Sound good? Let’s get started!

Create the most amazing 30 second commercial featuring Doritos you can think of! Make it funny, action packed or just something totally unique. This will air on national TV so keep that in mind when creating your concept. You can also check out last year’s winners for some reference HERE. Finally, submit it to the contest page and let the judging begin.

Doritos will be announcing 30 semi-finalists to feature on the contest page after November 17th. Each of these semi-finalists (if they don’t advance) will take home a $1,000 prize. From this group, CTSB will then select the 10 finalists whose fate will be put in the hands of a public vote. The 8 that don’t advance are $25,000 richer. But there will be 2 remaining videos. One will be selected by Frito Lay as a First Place Winner and receive a whopping $50,000 and have his or her submission aired during the big game. And oh yeah, remember that public vote? That will determine the Grand Prize Winner who is going to receive the $1million, commercial airtime and landing a “dream job” with Universal Studios is CA! Not to mention trips to the big game and all that fame stuff. Good luck!

In case you missed it, TripAdvisor.com launched a video contest this past summer that was asking for submissions based on its “Don’t Just Visit” campaign. The result was hundreds of creative submissions with one grand prize winning entry created by Trip Advisor users Jason Graisa and Curt Donohue. “I’m thrilled our ‘Fargo’ submission won the grand prize – it’s one of the first films we produced after starting our production company,” said Jason Graisa, winner of the TripAdvisor TV Ad Contest. “It’s great that TripAdvisor tapped into the creativity of its members, and it will be amazing to see our commercial on TV just like the other TripAdvisor ‘Don’t Just Visit’ ads. I’m planning a trip someplace tropical with the money we’ve won.” Not only did the team win $25,000, but they also inspired Trip Advisor to run another video contest giving you yet another shot at that giant cash prize.

  • Doritos “Legion of the Bold” Video Assignment – $10,000
    by
    Posted October 13th, 2014 at 6:39 am

Why should Crash the Super Bowl have all the fun? Doritos is spreading its crowdsourcing love to the Poptent community with an assignment that will still pay some hefty bills…and surely has better odds. Welcome to Doritos’ “Legion of the Bold” video assignment. As a place for young creatives to have an ongoing voice for Doritos, Legion of the Bold is a completely new platform for not only the brand, but large companies in general. The videos for this assignment should aim to bring awareness, and excitement, to Legion of the Bold, while maintaining a story of why Doritos created the platform and also drive new registrations to participate in the program.

So what is Doritos looking for in these videos? Basically you’re aiming at a target demo of both males and females 18-45+. They are searching for creative people that understand the brand and are eager to showcase their talent on a large scale. Keeping your video high energy and even mirroring the brand line “For the Bold” will be key to your success. While the video doesn’t have to necessarily be humorous, it should be exciting!

Doritos will be handing out some generous awards for this assignment. The top 4 videos will each take home $10,000…yes EACH! On top of that, the next 3 runners-up will receive a $5,000 cash award. If that’s not enough, Poptent is even running a mini-quest that could earn 10 lucky participants $250. When will you stop Doritos? We hope you never do.

  • “So Annoying” Video Contest – $1,000
    by
    Posted September 1st, 2014 at 10:04 pm

What does annoyance mean to you? We all deal with people at some that can drive us up the wall and turn our otherwise friendly personalities into a cold stare. And while this part of life cannot be changed, ProjectED has found a way to cope or in other words, a video contest! It’s time to educate viewers and give them some new choice words to vent their frustration with people or situations that cause “Annoyance.”

First, select one of the following words: insinuating, manipulative, vexation, unmannerly, amiss, aversion, arbitrary, unnervingly. Then using the definitions found on the CONTEST PAGE, create a short 1 minute (or less) video that creatively defines that word. Display, at appropriate points, the word, its part of speech and definition, and an example sentence. If you’re not familiar with ProjectED’s video definition format, check out some samples below.

    “INCONSISTENCY”

    “DISCORDANT”

Each video will be judged on the following criteria:

    • Educational merit and accuracy: Your video achieves the educational goals presented in the contest brief and viewers learn intended material from your video.
    • Creativity and engagement: Your video presents educational content in a memorable way; viewers are compelled to watch the video to completion. Does your video convey its message in an artistic, creative and innovative way?
    • Quality of video production: Your video has high resolution and audio quality, effectively employs visual aesthetics and cinematography and demonstrates production skills.
    • Appropriate content: Your video does not contain indecent, obscene, hateful, defamatory, or offensive material.

2 grand prize winners will each receive a $1,000 cash prize. The winners are selected from an Adult (18+) and a Youth (13-17) category. Visit the contest page today to check out all the details. Happy filming!
