  • Button Up Video Contest – $300
    Posted August 25th, 2014 at 8:14 pm

When people button up their coats, it keeps the cold air out and the warmth in. The same can be done with our homes and other buildings—making them cozier, saving energy dollars, and fighting climate change. When done correctly, weatherization improvements do a great job of keeping the heat where it belongs. Capstone Community Action is looking for very short videos that inspire viewers to take action to lower their heating costs and do something positive for the planet. The competition runs September 2 to October 19, but contestants can start creating their videos any time.

Videos must be two minutes or less and will be judged in three categories: 1) Most humorous; 2) Most likely to spur action; and 3) Most informative. All styles are eligible and the videos will be available for public viewing on the contest site which opens September 1. Individual and collaborative efforts are encouraged including clubs, classrooms, local energy committees, and senior centers.

    Prizes will include:

    • Judge’s Choice: Middle and High School winners will receive a Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream party for their class. Adult winners will receive a $100 cash prize. (Vermont Residents ONLY)
    • Honorable Mentions: A letter of accomplishment from Capstone.
    • People’s Choice: The one winner for this award receives a $300 cash prize.

Visit the contest page below to get started. Good luck!
