    Each spring and early summer, a sad and disturbing crisis that ravages college campuses, cities and towns across America strikes: Couch Abandonment. Thousands of couches are left abandoned on the street, piled forgotten around dumpsters and waiting to end up in landfills. In an effort to stop Couch Abandonment, AmericanListed.com is launching a contest for college students and anyone who is moving to share their story of why their couches deserve to be saved and have a chance at a new life.   • Spondylitis Awareness Video Contest- $1000

    The Spondylitis Association is turning to its far-flung network of members and friends for help in spreading the word about this group of chronic diseases by hosting its first video contest.The contest, which runs through April 21st, asks participants to create a video, up to three minutes in length, answering the question “What should people know about spondylitis?”

    Entries must have spondylitis as their focus and impart information about some aspect of the disease. Though personal stories are welcome, the video must also contain educational value for the general public. The grand prize is $1,000. The next four winners will receive amounts ranging from $50 to $300. The top 10 entries will qualify for a free one-year SAA membership and SAA promotional items.   • AMD Alliance International Video Contest- Winners

    Over 40 entries were submitted to the AMD Alliance International Video Contest and when all was said and done, 1 person walked away with a grand prize of $10,000! The winning video entitled, “Eyes” is an animated short that describes the dangers, symptoms and risk factors of age-related macular degeneration. The judges agreed that this was the most effective video they received, so we send the big congrats out to Adam Mosher (English and Philosophy major at the University of Guelph, Ontario).   • Mind The Difference Video Contest- $3000

    We thought we might lose our mind just trying to figure out the “Mind The Difference” video contest was all about, but the guidelines seem to be made slightly vague on purpose. Create a video that best walks a fine line of normalcy and insanity in an artistic expression. We believe this means almost anything goes, but you might want to watch the contest video for a more accurate description (or maybe not). With a first prize of $3000, it might be worth letting loose and seeing what you can come up with. Good luck!     In 2010, Will Forte brings Saturday Night Live’s clueless soldier of fortune to the big screen in the action comedy MacGruber. The film’s co-Stars include Ryan Phillippe as Lt. Dixon Piper and Kristen Wiig as Vicki St. Elmo. Both are key members of MacGruber’s elite team of experts charged with bringing down MacGruber’s sworn enemy played by Val Kilmer.

  • Living Climate Change Video Challenge- $3000

    IDEO, the global design and innovation firm, and social design network DESIGN21 present the Living Climate Change Video Challenge
    As designers, we believe that envisioning the future leads to new choices and opportunities. Living Climate Change, an online community hosted by IDEO, presents a conversation designed to move the dialogue about climate change toward inspiring, human-centered scenarios that create new possibilities for business and society.

    The Challenge:
    Create an original video that’s less than 2 minutes long that envisions how climate change will impact our lives over the next 20 to 30 years. Looking beyond the doom and gloom and the policy discussions that have dominated the debate, how would you envision a human-centered, sustainable future? Which behaviors will change? Which will be preserved?

    The Details
    Grand Prizes: $3,000 for each grand prize winner in the 18-and-over and 18-and-under age groups, plus a half-day “Deep Dive” workshop at IDEO
    Honorable Mentions: $500 in each age category (winner to be chosen by judges)
