    iPic Theaters pride themselves on bringing a quality cinema experience to the public and are now they are offering up the chance to have your work shown on one of their screens. The “iPic Members Film Festival” is calling for short films on the theme of Earth Preservation and have turned their attention to you creative filmmakers. There are 3 voting rounds to complete after the Festival entry period (January 7th 2012 – February 10th 2012).

    The grand prize winner will not only have his or her film shown at all iPic Theaters for the entire month of May, a $4,000 check will also be awarded! Be sure to visit the contest page for all the details!

  • 2012 Vimeo Festival Plus Awards – $30,000

    Video sharing site Vimeo has brought its “Vimeo Festival Plus Awards”  back for 2012 and this time, there are more categories and prizes! They want to celebrate the best in online video by allowing you to submit any original video work that premiered online between July 31st 2010 and February 20th 2012. Of course you can make some new work and premiere it before the February deadline. The categories are as follows:

    • Narrative: 10 minutes-
    • Documentary: 20 minutes-
    • Music Video: 10 minutes-
    • Motion Graphics: 10 minutes-
    • Animation: 20 minutes-
    • Remix/Mashup: 10 minutes-
    • Captured: 10 minutes-
    • Series: 10 minutes-
    • Experimental: 20 minutes-
    • Action Sports: 10 minutes-
    • Lyrical: 10 minutes-
    • Advertising: 25 seconds – 10 minutes
    The winner from each category will take a $5,000 home to create a new film within 1 year. The overall winner will receive an additional $25,000 to create a single new film. This festival also carries a $20 entry fee for the general public and $5 for Vimeo Plus members.     Great American Cookies have been serving up their sweet treats since 1977 and have since expanded into stores nationwide. Now they are looking to expand sales beyond the typical occasions: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, etc. So, they are looking to develop a video that celebrates the “firsts” in people’s lives – first kiss, first steps, first tooth lost, first home, first job, first day at school, driver’s license, etc. – all of the special everyday moments in people’s lives. Great American Cookies is about “creating fond memories” with their customers.

    This video should let customers know that Great American Cookies is there to celebrate with you every step of the way – not just calendar holidays.  The overall concept should tug at the heartstrings or have a bit of family friendly humor. The result will earn one creator a $7,500 check and bragging rights.
