Let’s get the new year off to a healthy start! The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology invites you to create a short, compelling video sharing one New Year’s resolution for improving your health or the health of a loved one, and how you will use technology to achieve your resolution.
They encourage you to create videos that are creative, inspiring and instructive. Share a resolution that others can relate to, and demonstrate how technology will make it easier to achieve. Your resolution can be anything health related, such as quitting smoking or drinking, eating healthier, losing weight, reducing stress, or managing a chronic condition. Videos must show how you will use information technology to achieve your resolution and how you plan to maintain it. Get creative!

With all the different forms of current communication (talk, text, Facebook, Skype, Twitter, etc.), it’s only natural that miscommuncations are an everyday occurrence. AT&T wants filmic stories that capture various moments of communication as they occur around important moments and the tensions and triumphs that arise as a result.
Maybe you texted some amazing news to a loved one but it got auto-corrected into something terribly wrong? Maybe sending a picture message at the right time made someones day. Whatever it is, your entry should meet the following guideline:
The tone should be humorous, endearing, emotional, and revealing. Find a way to tell a human story through the technology that we all share. One lucky winner will receive $8,000 and a trip for 2 to Barcelona with 3 nights of hotel accommodation. We love the sound of that!

Teaching adults stuff you already know is the motto of Net Connectors so they are challenging you to create a video that show people…how to send a text message. Who doesn’t know how to send a text message!? Well, this may be second nature to us tech savvy filmmakers, but maybe not so much for our grandparents or even parents.
The overall goal is to make your video easy to understand and informative. Teaching a technically challenged individual something may be harder than it seems. If, however, you are successful and are selected as the winner, you will take home a brand new iPod Nano and be entered to win an iPad 2!

Saving for college can be a daunting task. So much so that, sadly, many families forgo it altogether. Yet, recent reports show that children “with a savings account in their name are approximately six times more likely to attend college than those with no account.” So that got the folks at RAISE Texas (RaiseTexas.org) thinking about how they could help make creating secondary education savings accounts easier. For the first time, going on now, RAISE Texas presents its statewide 2011-2012 Save ‘n SMILE Family Video Contest.
Create a video, three minutes or less, that shares what a RAISE Texas $2000 college savings account deposit would mean to your family. What does your child want to be when he or she grows up and how can a college degree help achieve his or her dreams?
Winners will receive actual tuition startup dollars — in their own names. For one grand prize winner, RAISE Texas will create a Texas Tuition Promise Fund in that child’s name of $2000. That means $2000 to kickstart his or her Texas state 529 plan, geared towards prepayment of undergraduate resident tuition and required fees at any Texas public college or university. Just think… for some state community colleges, that could be an entire year of tuition covered! Plus, two runners-up will receive Texas Tuition Promise Funds in the amount of $250. Good luck!
