  • 5-Hour Energy “Yummification” Video Contest – $50,000

    So what exactly is “Yummification”? The process involves taking a 5-Hour Energy drink and mixing it with your favorite beverage to create the ultimate in eye opening refreshment. What’s even better is that 5-Hour Energy has pooled together $100,000 as part of its new “Yummification” video contest in hopes of getting some amazing recipes with even better video execution.


    Keep your recipe simple. Juice, soda, tea, etc (No ALCOHOL or CAFFEINATED DRINKS/SODA) are all good examples. Next, give it a name. The more clever the better. Then create a short video that features your creation. This is where your creativity really counts and could earn you a big cash reward. Check out the sample video below for a quick reference.

  • Hormel “Black Label Bacon” 2014 Film Series – $10,000

    If the smell of bacon is what wakes you up in the morning and keeps you going then listen up! Hormel and Poptent have brought back the “Black Label Bacon” series for 2014 and it’s looking to top last year’s incredible contest. If you don’t remember, “Black Label Bacon” is Hormel’s signature bacon that has a huge (and still growing) fan base. The brand debuted a video assignment last year that looked to bring bacon inspired stories to life and it wants to keep the tradition going. This time, however, they want to feature these short films digitally and at their live event on the flight deck of the U.S.S Midway in San Diego, CA. Are you ready?

    Create a short video (6 minutes or less) that brings to life a bacon inspired story. Show you or your characters passions for bacon. There are no limits here: inspiring, real, funny, edgy, stirring, stimulating, insightful, positive, cool, hip, trendy, refreshing, surprising. Videos should aspire to create likable and engaging characters. Feel free to experiment with different genres as well. Documentary, romance, drama, comedy, adventure or a cross-hash of multiple styles. Non- fiction or fiction are both acceptable. Check out some of last year’s winners below for reference.

  • “My RØDE Reel” Video Contest – $70,000+ In Prizes

    Chances are if you’re reading this site, you’ve heard of RØDE. Though the company has existed for decades, the brand has a become household name for microphones since the advent of modern DSLR video production. Well now RØDE has decided to give back…and we mean BIG! They have launched a massive video contest that is giving you the chance to win over $70,000 in production gear…and we’re talking about gear to drool over!

    The rules are simple. Create a 5 minute or less film about anything you want and accompany it with a behind-the-scenes video that shows a RØDE mic in use on your production. That’s it! You will obviously want to think creatively, but RODE has even included a tips and tricks video that will help you get the most production value out of your shoot.



    Videos will be judged based on 3 main categories: Judges Film Prize, Peoples Choice Prize and Judges BTS prize. The prize packages can be found on the contest page below and have everything from Black Magic Cinema Cameras and Zeiss Lenses to free Adobe Creative Cloud Subscriptions.   • “Expressions of Love” Video Contest -$1,000

    With Valentines Day only a week away, it’s crunch time for getting that special someone a special something. And while I’ve never been a huge fan of this “corporate” holiday, I was excited to find out that Project Ed was celebrating V-Day in a whole new way…with a video contest! They’re calling it “Expressions of Love” and I’m calling it a must enter.

    Project ED is providing a list of love related vocab words (and 1 phrase) for you to choose from. It’s your job to create a 1 minute, or less, video that defines your selected word. You will need to include the part of speech along with the full definition as well to be eligible. Check out their contest video below.

  • London 2013: Playstation Video Contest – $8,000 + Trip
    Posted and Playstation have joined forces to give you a chance at greatness. With the upcoming launch of Sony’s PS4 this year, the company knows this is the time of the Playstation and wants to see how that can translate into video goodness. They are looking for you to create a film about the real greatness that gamers can achieve on Playstation. Capturing the feelings and emotions an incredible gaming experience can bring a person while being relatable to everyone who watches it. Check out the company’s latest spot below for a reference.

    Playstation “Who Are You Not to be Great”

    Keep in mind that this is not going to be a film about the PS4, but instead a reference to the Playstation platform as a whole. The key is to communicate gaming as an art form and open the eyes of non-gamers who will have a whole new perspective after watching your film. Keeping your tone inspirational, playful and unexpected (but not dark), will keep in line with the company’s brief and give you a great chance at winning one of the big cash prizes they are offering.

    One grand prize winner takes home an $8,000 check along with a trip for two people to London, England with three nights accommodation. 2nd and 3rd win $4,000 and $2,000 respectively while 4th and 5th each pocket $1,000. Always remember that you can apply for a production grant with Mofilm so take advantage and you might be able to step your game up!

  • Sole Society Commercial Contest – $28,000

    Launching in 2011, Sole Society has been a hot spot on the internet for women’s shoes, handbags and accessories. The company releases new products weekly along with exclusive fashion and style content. Last  year, they successfully got their brand into Nordstrom and are not stopping there. After teaming up with Tongal, the company is now looking for a slick video they can promote on TV.

    Your video should speak to the modern woman who loves fashion and style, but is not looking to pay a fortune. To keep in line with the brand, the 30 second spot should feel polished and high quality. The viewer should walk away feeling like Sole Society is a high fashion brand while still being affordable. Keep in mind they are looking to differentiate the brand from discount fashion retailers such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls or DSW. They are not about slashing prices. So finding a way to create a cool lifestyle commercial is going to give you the greatest success. Check out the videos below for tonal reference.




    There are 3 phases and essentially 3 ways to win this contest. First submit an idea to Tongal. In 140 characters or less, create a written concept that will inspire a video creator. Four idea winners will receive a $250 check plus a $250 gift card for Sole Society. If your idea is used to generate a winning video, you will also receive 5% of that winning video’s cash prize.

    The second method for participation is the pitch phase. Create a 500 character or less pitch plus storyboards and/or a pitch video showing how you would produce a 30 second spot based one of the 4 winning ideas. Think details. Click HERE for a sample of an effective pitch. You will even need to include head shots for your casting selections. Two winners from this phase will win $3,000 and move directly into phase 3.

    The final phase for this contest is the actual production. The winners from phase 2 will create a Sole Society commercial based on their pitch and have a chance to win a $25,000 grand prize. The runner-up will receive a still healthy $12,000. But wait, there’s still a chance jump aboard at this point! A 3rd place prize of $6,000 is also being offered and that means there’s one more spot available. The “wildcard.” You can create a Sole Society commercial out of the blue based on your own idea. You don’t need to enter any of the other phases and you could still win the $25,000 grand prize.
